The center conducts interdisciplinary research on knowledge community evolved by advanced information networks. Its mission focuses on reseach and development of information technology geared toward the formation, representation, organization, interoperability and evaluation of knowledge and information shared in the communities, as well as social engineering in the communities.
Due to the reorganization within the university, the activities of Research Center for Knowledge Communities were temporarily suspended on March 31, 2018.
