| 概要 Abstract |
Computational social science is revolutionizing the way in which social scientists investigate the society, its opinions and trends. This talk will present the results of our study on how the past is collectively remembered and the future collectively predicted in traditional and also in social media. First, I will show that the analysis of references to the past in news articles allows us to gain insight into the collective memories related to different countries. This work demonstrates how computational tools can assist in studying history by revealing interesting topics and correlations over large scale text data. The second part of the talk will show our research in analyzing collective images of the future by extracting and summarizing future-related information from news articles and web pages. Lastly, I will briefly describe our latest efforts in building an interactive system for studying the way in which microblogging users collectively refer to the past and the future. |

Adam Jatowt is Associate Professor at the Graduate School of Informatics at Kyoto University. He received his Ph.D. in Information Science and Technology from the University of Tokyo in 2005. He has worked as postdoctoral fellow iat NICT, Japan in 2006. His research interests include temporal information retrieval from text, web archive search and mining, computational history, and information comprehensibility. He served as a PC co-chair of ICADL2014, SocInfo2013 and IPRES2011 and was a PC member of multiple international conferences including: SIGIR, WSDM, CIKM, JCDL, AAAI, HT and COLING. Adam has also co-organized series of workshops on information credibility and quality: WICOW 2008-2010, WebQuality 2011-2014 and on computational history: HistoInformatics 2013-2014 at WWW, CIKM and SocInfo conferences. He is recipient of Sakigake Scholarship provided by Japan Science and Technology Agency on the topic of knowledge discovery from historical document collections and the analysis of collective memories.
