Information science is a research field that covers wide discipline related to information. Recently, there is a global trend to establish information schools (iSchools) which studies information science not restricted to traditional partition of academic fields. Information Science Workshop 2012 (ISW2012) is an event aimed at providing an opportunity for discussion and interaction among students and young researchers who will take part in constructing now growing information science in this wide sense. The event will be held in Tsukuba, a famous research city in Japan.

This workshop is organized as a part of the International Symposium on Knowledge Communities 2012 (Dec.13th - 15th, 2012), which commemorates 10th anniversary of the Research Center for Knowledge Communities (RCKC) in the University of Tsukuba.
