Abstract |
Academic libraries in North America have been under the pressure of scare resources, increased demands to do more with less, as well as demands for accountability and assessment. This presentation will demonstrate how academic libraries meet these challenges using the University of British Columbia (UBC) Library as an example. The UBC Library has just finished public and technical services reviews, is going through a structure change and implementing its strategic plan for the next four years. "Change is no longer a consequence but an acceptance of what we must do to remain relevant to advance research, learning and teaching excellence by connecting communities to the world's knowledge." (Ingrid Parent, UL) The close ties between UBC Libraries and Japanese institutions will be also presented. |
Participation |
The seminar will be presented in English. No charge to participate and no reservation is needed. |
